Muddy Wallace, Jr.

Apollo Music Café, January 14, 2012.  Muddy Wallace Jr. is a singer, songwriter and musician from the south side of Chicago. His love and appreciation for the Chicago blues came from his father who was a public school teacher and blues singer from Memphis TN. His father’s stories of growing up poor in the south inspired him to carry on the songs and spirit of the great blues men and women who came before him—especially his father.  "Today, it seems there is such a disconnection with the current generation, and our ancestors in America and even beyond.  I feel it is my call as a modern day blues musician to make sure my generation, and the one that follows, never forgets the stories and struggles of our people . . . bridging the gap."

Muddy performs with a full band consisting of a guitarist- Rudy, a harp player -Miguel, Shawn on bass, and of course the charming Lil' Red assisting on vocals and percussion. His sound is a modern funky "nu-blues" that manages to keep the purity of its foundation.  His music has a broad appeal connecting us all to our past while ushering us into the future.
